Starting a new project at work tomorrow and I’m exhausted, so I’ll make this short.
Today I found my new 1RM split jerk at 115lbs! I was so excited! I tried once and failed, then tried a second time and barely made it! I need to practice getting my body under the bar and moving my feet quickly, so I can manage heavier weights. I did try a 125lbs split jerk, but barely got it off my chest. I wasn’t expecting it to work, so I’m not disappointed at all. I’m crazy excited I got 115! Then I did a set of 20 at 55lbs. It was really difficult, but I should have gone to 60 or 65, I think. Next time.
I finally got up that fucking rope. I’ve been thinking about it ever since I tried for the first time a month and a half ago. We did rope climbs last week, too, and I could barely get a single pull. I ended up doing descents during the wod. I think it was my shoes and the position of my feet because the rope wouldn’t cinch, so I wore my older shoes and long socks today… and I actually touched the ceiling beam! I panicked at the top because I didn’t know how to get back down, and my hands are pretty sore and a little raw from trying to descend. When I got down, I was so excited that I wanted to dance. Maybe sing a little. I didn’t, but I might have shouted a bit while I was at the top. I wanted to get a picture, but I was too scared to be up so high that I didn’t want to wait for anyone to grab a camera!
After I got my single rope climb, I decided to focus my skill workout on improving my grip strength. It’s not my feet/legs that give out, it’s my grip. So I did a couple farmer carries and then just hung from the rig for as long as my hands would hold.
Today was a good day.
